CHICAGO - Marian University women's volleyball (4-14, 0-4 NACC) suffered a pair of defeats falling to Illinois Tech and Chicago.

AT ILLINOIS TECH (L, 3-1, 25-22, 20-25, 25-13, 25-16)
- Illinois Tech jumped out early on the Sabres taking a 6-1 lead to open the match.
- Marian was able to cut that deficit down to 13-9 before a 6-2 run allowed Illinois Tech to lead by eight.
- Marian had a 5-1 spurt later in the set but it was too late to mount a rally.
- Five straight points allowed Marian to open the second set with a 7-4 advantage.
- The Sabres maintained a 14-13 lead before going on a 6-1 run to build a six-point cushion and eventually take the set.
- Marian opened the third set with a slim 9-7 edge before Illinois Tech scored 17 of the next 20 points to easily take the set.
- A fast start in the fourth along with a 7-1 run later in the set allowed Illinois Tech to take the match.
VS. CHICAGO (L, 3-0, 25-16, 25-15, 25-22)
- The two squads opened the match at an even 10-10 before Chicago pulled away with an 8-1 run.
- The Maroons also ended the set on a 7-2 spurt.
- The second set saw Chicago open with an 11-3 lead and never looked back to go up 2-0.
- Marian had a 14-13 lead in the third but Chicago was able to score the next four points to lead by three.
- The two sides nearly went point-for-point the rest of the way as Chicago secured the sweep.

AT ILLINOIS TECH
- Illinois Tech had a 48-35 edge for kills and slim 67-66 advantage for digs.
- The Scarlet Hawks were able to record 12 aces to only six for Marian.
- Marian had double-digit kills in the first two sets of the match.
- The Sabres are now 5-8 all-time against Illinois Tech having dropped the last four meetings.
VS. CHICAGO
- Chicago finished with a 41-25 edge for kills and 46-38 advantage for digs.
- The Maroons had at least 12 kills in each set.
- Marian is 1-4 all-time against the Maroons with this being the first meeting since 2008,
