Sabre women's ice hockey narrowly misses upset of No. 10/12 CUW

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's ice hockey (13-11-0, 9-8-0 NCHA) narrowly missed an upset of No. 10/12 Concordia Wisconsin falling 3-2.

  • The Sabres were on the board first when sophomore Piper Miller lit the lamp 5:22 into the game with assists to senior Caitlin Traver and freshman Abigail Kasal.
  • The lead lasted all the way into the second period when CUW scored with 11:59 on the clock to even the score.
  • The stalemate stood heading into the final period.
  • The Falcons took their first lead of the game 3:44 into the final period and built its lead to 3-1 with 9:32 to play.
  • Marian was able to battle back when sophomore Zowie Hunter scored a power-play goal with 6:25 left to play, assists to juniors Olivia Church-Sowinski and Jessica Tadevich.
  • The Sabres played 6-on-4 for the final 56 minutes but couldn't 'convert any of its chances.
