Box Score 1 LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Marian University women's ice hockey (14-13-0, 9-9-0 NCHA) forced a mini-game defeating Lake Forest 4-3 in overtime for the first postseason win in program history but fell to the Foresters in the mini-game 2-1.
   

• Marian once again had a strong start when senior Aubriella Westphal scored with an assist from junior Ella Spies 9:56 into the game.
• A power-play goal from the Foresters tied the game but Marian retook the lead just 1:46 later.
• Junior Olivia Laube was the goal scorer for Marian with an assist to junior Olivia Church-Sowinski as Marian went into the first intermission ahead 2-1.
• Similarly to game one, LFC tied the game 2:34 into the second and took the lead with 9:55 left in regulation.
• Marian found its equalizer when Spies scored with 54 ticks left, assist to freshman Jillian Newhouse.
• The Sabres took advantage of the opportunity scoring a power-play goal with 1:23 left in overtime to force a mini-game.
• Junior Jessica Tadevich kept the Marian hopes alive with assists to sophomore Zowie Hunter and senior Rebecca Larson.
• Marian opened the scoring for the mini-game with a power-play goal from sophomore Piper Miller 9:27 in, assists to Spies and Hunter.
• The Foresters were able to tie the game with just 5:45 left in the mini-game and took the lead 44 seconds later.
• The Sabres had a late chance on the power play but was unable to force overtime in the mini-game.

 

• The Sabres had a hefty 39-26 advantage for shots in the regulation game but LFC had a 14-12 edge in the mini-game.
• LFC had a 34-33 edge for face-offs in the regulation game and 13-10 in the mini-game.
• Marian was 2-for-8 on power plays between the two games and held LFC to 1-for-7 on their chances.
• The overtime victory marked the first postseason victory in program history.
• Marian finishes the season with a winning record for the first time in program history.
