MADISON, WIS. - Sophomore
Emily Eastham grabbed 14 rebounds for Marian University women's basketball (2-18, 2-11 NACC), which outscored Edgewood in two quarters but ultimately fell 64-50.
- After more than five scoreless minutes, freshman Ava Kreger hit a free throw to make it 6-1 Eagles.
- Edgewood closed the quarter on a 14-2 run, taking a 20-6 lead into the second quarter.
- Senior Chelsea King scored six of the Sabres' first eight second-quarter points to cut the deficit to single digits.
- Marian outscored Edgewood 18-13 in the second quarter, at one point cutting the lead to five before Edgewood went into halftime up 33-24.
- A 10-2 Edgewood run coming out of halftime extended the Eagles lead to 17.
- After missing its first four shots of the half, Marian got on the board with a layup from sophomore Nyedeng Awak, making it 43-28.
- King's steal and three-pointer helped the Sabres chip the lead back to 10 during a 9-3 run.
- Once again finishing the quarter strong, the Eagles held Marian scoreless for the last 3:50, extending their lead to 53-35.
- Freshman Dasha Yeltysheva scored two buckets in the final quarter, marking her highest-scoring performance since 2025.
- The Eagles led by as much as 25 in the fourth quarter, but five straight points from freshman Holly Goodwin, capping a 10-0 run, cut the lead to 15.
- With 2:44 left, King scored the final points of the game as Marian dropped a 64-50 final.
- Sophomore Emily Eastham has posted double-digit rebounds in two of her past three games and leads the team with 6.0 rebounds per game this season.
- Marian shined from the free-throw line, going 11-of-14 (.786), with Goodwin going a perfect 7-for-7.
- The Sabres outscored the Eagles in the paint, 20-18.
- King recorded her third game of the season with four three-pointers, and her second in the past three games.
- The Sabres and Eagles met for the 71st time, with Edgewood leading the all-time series 49-22.
- Edgewood completed a season sweep of Marian and has extended its winning streak in the series to 12, dating back to 2017.
