OAK CREEK, Wis. - Marian University softball (5-7, 2-0 NACC) opened conference play with a sweep of Alverno, scoring a season-high 17 runs in game one before securing a 13-0 shutout in game two.

GAME 1Â
- Neither team scored in the first before Marian plated four runs in the second. Junior Sabrina Di Vito drove in the first run with a single and later came around to score in the inning.Â
- The Inferno responded with three runs of their own before the Sabres broke the game open with an 11-run third inning.
- Senior Ariana Schliepp drove in three runs with a double, and Di Vito followed with a two-run double of her own in the third.
- The Sabres added two runs in the fourth, with sophomore Macey Pease collecting her third hit of the game on a single to left field that drove in the final run for Marian.Â
- Despite two Alverno runs in the fifth, the game ended after five innings.Â
GAME 2Â
- The Sabres scored one run in each of the first two innings.Â
- Senior Hope Matta had three hits, including a single that helped drive in two runs after a throwing error.Â
- Schliepp contributed to the five-run third inning with a double that drove in two runs.Â
- After an empty fourth inning, the Sabres scored six runs to once again end the game after five innings.Â
- Freshman Ella Pehlke and Joree Tibbs each hit two-RBI doubles to help the Sabres finish the game strong in the fifth.Â

- The Sabres' 17 runs marked a season high and their most since a 20-4 win over Alverno last season.Â
- Marian lead 15-7 in hits, with four Sabres recording at least two hits each.
- Two of Alverno's five runs were unearned, following four errors by Marian.
GAME 2
- The 13-0 shutout marked Marian's highest run total in a shutout since a 24-0 win at Rockford on April 8, 2018.Â
- Marian out-hit the Inferno 15-5, as three Sabres tallied multiple hits.Â
- Schliepp recorded two hits and four RBIs in the game.Â
- Marian improved to 40-8 all-time against Alverno and has won 18 straight in the series.Â
