Marian men's lacrosse finds late spark against Lake Forest

FOND DU LAC  - Marian University men's lacrosse (0-6, 0-4 NACC) netted all four of its goals in the second half, but dropped a 12-4 decision to Lake Forest.

  • The Foresters struck twice in the opening quarter, limiting the Sabres to zero shots on goal. 
  • Lake Forest extended its lead with four goals in the second quarter to take a 6-0 advantage into halftime. The Sabres were outshot 16-4 in the period.
  • Senior Jackson Sweeney totaled 10 first-half saves for Marian. 
  • Sophomore Benett Luke ended the Sabres' scoring drought one minute into the third, converting an assist from freshman Franklin Lund to cut the deficit to 6-1. 
  • After five unanswered goals from Lake Forest, Luke added his second of the game, scoring with 42 seconds left in the period.
  • Despite two fourth-quarter goals from senior Devon Butler, the Foresters secured the victory.

Senior Devon Butler recorded the first two-goal game of his Marian career, scoring both goals in the fourth quarter. 
Senior Jackson Sweeney (0-6) made 16 saves and collected a team-high eight ground balls in the loss.
