Andrew McMillan was announced as an assistant coach for the men's soccer program in May of 2023.
"I am excited to have Andrew join our coaching staff," said Miller. "He has a strong background in the game and his experience will be a great addition to our program. I have no doubts he will help us continue to build on the success the program has achieved the past couple of seasons."
McMillan comes to Marian after spending two seasons at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota. Prior to his time with the Cardinals, McMillan spent three seasons as a graduate assistant at Dordt University (NAIA). While with the Defenders, he assisted all aspects of soccer operations for both the men's and women's program while also serving as the head recruiter for the women's program. McMillan was tasked with the development and execution of the first ID Camp for the women's program in 2019.
During this time, McMillan also interned for Iowa Soccer in the state's Olympic Development Program (ODP) in 2020, as well as assisting with USSA grassroots coaching courses.
McMillan spent two seasons at Pella Christian High School prior to his arrival to Dordt. He assisted the varsity program and acted as the head coach of the junior varsity program. McMillan also spent the summer of 2016 interning for Green and White Soccer Club in Mount Prospect, Ill. He would coach all levels and headed the summer training programs for high-school level girls.
"I am really excited for the opportunity to become a Sabre and a part of the Marian men's soccer program," said McMillan. "I want to thank Coach Miller for bringing me on staff and am really looking forward to getting to work this fall with the guys. It was a no brainer after coming onto campus that the culture Coach Peltonen and Coach Miller have built over the years is something special and I am excited to add to it."
McMillan played four seasons of soccer Central College, an NCAA Division III institution, serving as a team captain in his final two seasons. He was a center-midfielder for the Dutch throughout his career playing in 66 games over his career. McMillan started in every game of his junior and senior seasons. A native from Dunlap, Ill., McMillan graduated from Dunlap in 2014 after earning all-sectional honors his junior and senior year.
McMillan holds a USSA E license.
