(Watertown, WI) - Marian University closed out their season on Tuesday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Maranatha Baptist Bible College. With the victory, the Sabres snapped an eight-game winless streak and finished 5-11-2 overall and 2-7-2 in the Northern Athletics Conference.
Neither team scored in the first period, but Marian recorded a big second period as they tallied three goals. Milan Stupar (Grayslake, IL) got the scoring started as he scored off an assist from Peter Xiong (Fond du Lac, WI) at the 51:06 mark. Just over ten minutes later, Jose Hernandez (Sheboygan Falls, WI) scored to make it 2-0. Then, at the 66:48 mark, Freddy Briones (Sheboygan, WI) scored to close out the scoring.
Marian's Nick Henkemeyer (Prior Lake, MN) stopped three shots in his last game as a Sabre. Xiong and Lee McClendon (Chicago, IL) also played their last games as a Sabre in the contest.
Maranatha out-shot the Sabres 16-15 in the contest.
