Coach Peltonen's Comments
“It was a tale of two halves for the Sabres. We came out tentative, but hustling in the first half against Oshkosh. We had trouble keeping the ball due to Oshkosh's defensive pressure and our lack of poise. They had a early flurry of corners that we were able to withstand and we then did a good job keeping them away from our goal for the most part. They received a penalty kick that from distance looked somewhat legit, but soft. I'll have to see the video to verify it. They had a few other half chances, but we went into half 1-0, giving us a chance to regroup.

In the locker room we talked about our need to keep the ball more and how to achieve that. Our guys played much better in the 2nd half. They continued to work hard and hustle, but now we were able to keep the ball more and make the Oshkosh players have to work a little more. Milan Stupar, who played his best game as a target so far this season, Jim Chavez, and Peter Xiong were important players in allowing us some more possession of play. They caught a goal later in the half to make the game 2-0. We had two defenders dive in and that allowed their player to get in on our keeper Nick Henkemeyer

You're never satisfied with a loss and to be a good team you must beat good teams like Oshkosh. They earned the win, but this game did show us some things about ourselves that will allow us to compete better in future games. Game balls go to Jim Chavez (for his play in the 2nd half and consistent work rate in the center of midfield), Kenny Pieper (for his hustle, determination, and willingness to battle) and Milan Stupar (for his mobility to get open and for his ability to hold the ball and keep it for us)."
