(Fond du Lac, WI) - Three players scored more than 17 points on Wednesday evening for the Sabres as they pulled out a 76-69 victory over Lakeland College.
Kevin Hudak (Ashwaubenon, WI) led the Sabres with 19 points, while
Jeff Harris (Calumet Park, IL) and
Logan Rankin (Algoma, WI) both added 17 points to help move Marian to 6-8 overall and 3-3 in the Northern Athletics Conference.
The first half was close throughout with neither team gaining a lead larger than five points. There were eight lead changes and four ties in the period. Marian took a 33-31 lead into the break thanks to solid play down low. Marian scored 18 points in the paint and were led by Rankin's 11 points in the half.
In the second, Marian was able to take a 57-47 lead with 9:22 to play. Lakeland cut the deficit to two points on two occasions, but was never able to get any closer. Hudak and Harris had big half's as Hudak scored all 19 of his points in the half, while Harris was 3-for-3 from deep. Hudak went 9-for-10 from the line in the half.
Marian's bench came up big in this one as they outscored the Muskies 25-10.
Marian outrebounded the Muskies 42-34 and outshot them 46%-40%.
Rankin recorded a double-double as he added 11 rebounds to go along with his 17 points. Colin Lohenry (Algoma, WI) pulled down 9 rebounds in the contest.
Jake Schwarz led the Muskies with 26 points and 12 rebounds.
Marian is back in action again on Saturday, as they will travel to Concordia University-Chicago.
