(Appleton, WI) - The Sabres dropped their second game of the MCHA/NCHA Thanksgiving Showdown on Saturday, falling 6-5 in overtime to St. Scholastica. Marian is now 5-5 overall and will get back into conference play on Friday evening, as they travel back to Appleton to face Lawrence University.
Marian led 2-1 after the first period as Matt Williams (Lacombe, AB) and Brendan Roberts (Calgary, AB) both lit the lamp. Williams scored on the power play.
In the second, Justin Cormier (Calgary, AB) scored in-between a pair of Saints goals and the game was 3-3 after two periods of play.
In the third, Williams tallied another power-play goal to make it 4-3. Lawrence's Carter Davis scored the next two goals, giving him four goals on the game, to make the score 5-4 Lawrence. With just :14 remaining in the game, Marian scored with an extra attacker as Lane Boswell (Calgary, AB) scored his third goal of the year.
In the extra period, the Saints scored just 2:35 in to move to 4-5 on the year.
St. Scholastica out-shot Marian 60-48.
Marian's Josh Baker (Canton, MI) stopped 54 shots.
