(Madison, WI) - Edgewood College took a pair of games from Marian on Monday afternoon at Stampfl Field. The Sabres blew a late lead in game one and fell 6-3 and then were held scoreless in their 4-0 loss in game two.
Marian (10-20, 6-10 NAC) trailed 1-0 heading into the third, but got on the board in the third with three runs.
Tim Holtz (Oshkosh, WI) recorded a RBI-double, while
Ryan Hiller (Marshfield, WI) and
Jace Unrein (Racine, WI) both recorded RBI-groundouts.
The Sabres held that lead until the seventh inning, when their defense did them in. The Eagles inning was prolonged thanks to two Sabre errors, which allowed them to score five runs. The Eagles did record five hits in the inning.
Marian never really threatened the rest of the way.
Ty Engler (Waterford, WI) went 6.1 innings in the loss. He didn't give up an earned run and struck out five.
Anthony Porcaro (Burlington, WI) led the offense with three hits, while Holtz added a pair.
In game two, Marian recorded only three hits in the loss. The Eagles scored once in the first, twice in the third and once in the seventh.
Edgewood moved to 19-11 and 10-4 in the NAC with the sweep.
