FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – For the second straight night, the Marian University men's hockey team played to a 2-2 tie against their MCHA conference rivals Lawrence University at the Blueline Family Ice Center this evening, Nov. 18.

Sophomore Robbie Bailey scored both Sabre goals, including a game-tying score with 11:49 remaining in the third period that gained Marian one point in the North Division standings. Sophomore goaltender Josh Baker made 29 saves to preserve the draw. The Sabres remain unbeaten in conference play as they move to 5-1-2 overall and 4-0-2 in the MCHA.

Meanwhile, the Vikings' goaltender Peter Emery made 40 saves, including all 18 in the second period to help his team gain a point. Lawrence is now 3-0-3 (3-0-3 MCHA).

Derek Brickan scored his second goal of the season, getting the Vikings on the board early at the 2:12 mark of the first period. However, before the first intermission came, Bailey struck on a 4-on-4 breakaway for his first of two goals at the 14:18 mark on an assist by Mitch Kriz.

In the second period, the Vikings took the advantage with a Matt Hughes goal at the 8:39 mark. Despite 18 shots on net, the Sabres failed to find the equalizer until nearly midway through the third period when Bailey answered the bell again.

The sophomore put away a score on assists by Bryce Wilson and Aaron Leonard at the 8:11 mark. The goals marked the first two of the season for Bailey and it helped keep the Sabres unbeaten in conference play.

Marian will be back in action next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 25-26, as they host the 2011 MCHA/NCHA Showcase featuring Marian and Lawrence of the MCHA and St. Norbert and St. Scholastica of the NCHA in a two-day challenge at Blueline Family Ice Center in Fond du Lac.
