Marian moves to 5-1 in the NAC

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 (Fond du Lac, WI) - Marian University ran their winning streak to four games on Saturday afternoon with a sweep of MSOE at Herr-Baker Field. Marian won game one 9-2 and won the nightcap 10-0 in seven innings. Marian is now 8-6 overall and 5-1 in the NAC. They are back in action again tomorrow at Aurora University.

In game one, Marian used two big innings to aid in the victory. They scored five times in the third and added four in the fifth.

In the third, Phil Seis, Will Martin and Anthony Porcaro singled to open the inning. They all moved up a base on a wild pitch, with Seis scoring. Jace Unrein hit a RBI sacrifice-fly to score a run and that was followed up by a RBI-single by Garrett Dorn and a two-RBI double by Beau Burgert

In the fifth, Dorn hit a two-RBI double, while Matt Schroeder hit a RBI-double.

Mitchell Gardner picked up the victory giving up just one run and four hits in his seven innings of work. He is now 2-0 on the year. Alex Larsen pitched two innings in relief and gave up one run and one hit.

Dorn had a big offensive game, going 2-for-5 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Ryan Hiller added two hits and a pair of runs. Porcaro and Schroeder both had a pair of hits, while Beau Burgert drove in a pair. 

Marian out-hit MSOE 13-5.

In the finale, Dustin Andrus gave up just two hits in the complete-game, shutout victory. He struck out five and walked just one. He is now 3-1. 

Marian scored in every inning except the fifth and sixth innings. They scored twice in the first as they took advantage of a Raider error. They took control of the game in the second with four runs. Porcaro drove in a pair with a double in the inning, while Martin also drove in a run with a double. Burgert also drove in a run in the frame. 

In the third, Martin drove in his second run of the game with a single. In the fourth, Kent Lentz and Burgert drove in runs. Larsen hit a RBI-single in the seventh to put the ten-run rule into effect. 

Lentz finished with three hits, while Porcaro, Seis and Martin added a pair.

Marian out-hit MSOE 14-2 and recorded five doubles in the contest.
