MADISON, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com)
– The Marian University men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to host Edgewood College at Rennebohm Park this evening, April 11. Jory Lawson took home wins in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles with partner James Kapolnek.

The Sabres fall to 1-3 on the regular season, 1-2 in NAC competition. Meanwhile, Edgewood improves to 5-16 (4-1 NAC).

Lawson and Kapolnek got the Sabres off to a solid start with a 9-8 (7-2) tie-break victory over Cody Strebig and Max Divelbiss. The No. 2 doubles team of Andrew Bales and Joseph Bertram fell, 8-5. Mark Keller and Everett Zank dropped a No. 3 doubles match, 8-0.

In singles, Lawson made quick work of Strebig, 6-1 and 6-2, but that was the little success Marian saw in singles. Kapolnek fell to Tim Morgan, 6-0 and 6-2, at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Divelbiss got the best of Marian's Bertram, 6-3 and 6-1.

Mark Keller got the nod at No. 4 singles this evening, but Edwin Mendoza took a 7-5, 6-2 win. Michael Wanta defeated Bales at No. 5 singles, 6-1 and 6-2. Edgewood's Brady Storhoff capped off the singles matches with a 6-0 and 6-1 win at No. 6.

The Sabres will be back in action next Wednesday, April 18, to play host to MSOE in a make-up match from March 31. First serve is slated for 4 p.m.
