Box Score ROCKFORD, Ill. (SabreAthletics.com) - Coming off their impressive win at Elmhurst last Tuesday, the women's soccer team headed to Rockford, Illinois on Saturday for their Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup with Rockford University. Three first half goals would be more than enough, as the Sabres cruised to a 5-nil win.
Freshman Mikaila Johnson opened the scoresheet and wrote herself in, scoring in the 8' on an assist from junior Brittany Syms. The Sabres would double their lead just six minutes later, on an unassisted goal from Laura Maly.
The third and final goal of the opening 45 would come at the feet of junior Morgan Ansems, who was assisted by senior Shayni Paul.
The 3-0 lead built by the team at the half allowed for Head Coach Jason Murphy to utilize the depth of his bench, as well as save some legs for tomorrow's match against Concordia Chicago.
In the 62', Johnson would add her second of the day and seventh on the year. The fifth and final goal came courtesy of freshman Kylie McArthur. Syms would add her second point of the day, assisting on the goal.
