UW-Oshkosh Nabs Road Win at Smith Field

Box Score

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University men's soccer team struggled against a high-powered UW-Oshkosh offense that racked up six goals on 25 shots en route to a road victory at Smith Field, this evening, Oct. 8.

The Sabres (5-7) struggled from the outset, having difficulty generating a scoring chance until the second half. Meanwhile, the Titans (8-5-1) showed ample ability to score, putting up 10 shots in the opening 45 minutes and building on a 2-0 halftime lead with four additional goals in the second half.

Michael Dugan and Javier Simon each registered two-goal games with Dugan picking up his first two goals of the season. Simon recorded both goals in succession and resulting in the, 2-0, halftime advantage.

The freshman netted the eventual game-winner in the 19' with an unassisted tally and added to it in the 34'.

The match got more physical as it drew on, generating five combined yellow cards.

Marian's Javier Miranda and Christian Rodriguez recorded the team's two shots on goal and goalie Bryce Woldt made 11 saves in the loss.

The Sabres will look to get back on track this Saturday, Oct. 11, when they play host to Rockford University at 1 p.m.
