FOND DU LAC, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University men's tennis team was unable to pick up its first victory of the season despite home court advantage following setbacks to visiting Wisconsin Lutheran College and MSOE inside Center Court Indoor Tennis Center, today, April 13.
The Sabres met their match in the morning session, falling to the Warriors 9-0 and having taken just three games in the match.
The #2 doubles team of Spencer Braswell and Mike Kunes stole a game from brothers Derek and Ryan Sallmann, but the WLC combo went on to the 8-1 victory.
Senior Elan Solvik took a game in the first set against his #1 singles opponent, Lee Johnson, while #5 singles Payton Trammel did so as well against WLC's Adam Breister.
Later in the day, the Sabres hosted MSOE and also fell by a 9-0 result. Solvik had the match of the day, taking six games in a two-set, 6-4, 6-2, defeat to MSOE's #1 singles player, Eric Klamrowski.
MSOE improved to 4-9 overall, 2-1 in the NACC with the win. WLC moved to 6-8 (3-1 NACC), while Marian fell to 0-6 (0-6 NACC).
The Sabres will be back in action Friday, April 18, in a non-conference match against nearby Ripon. The match will begin at 6 p.m. inside Center Court Indoor Tennis Center.
