MADISON, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) -- The Marian University men's tennis team concluded the 2014 season with an 8-1 setback at Edgewood College on the road, this afternoon, April 23.
The Sabres (1-9, 1-8 NACC) registered their lone win at #6 singles behind the racket of Payton Trammel. The Eagles (10-15, 7-2 NACC) dominated in doubles play, dropping just two games at #3 doubles, and opened the match with a 3-0 advantage before taking five-of-six singles match-ups.
It was more of the same at singles with the exception of Trammel's match as he took down his opponent, Tyler Houston, 6-4, 6-4.
Marian will bid adieu to its lone senior, Elan Solvik, who started this academic year in a basketball uniform - helping that team to a conference title - and finished the year as the #1 singles player for the men's tennis team. This year marked the second straight season that the Port Townsend, Washington native has served as the Sabres' #1 singles player.
