Box Score FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University men's hockey (5-6-1, 3-5-0 NCHA) completed the sweep of St. Scholastica to close out the first half by a final of 4-2.
The first period saw each team net a pair of goals with three of the goals coming in the final 2:27 of the period. Sophomore Scott Salberg opened the scoring with his first career goal at the 6:44 mark with assists to freshman Brock Weston and junior Cole McCaig.
The Saints tied the game with a shorthanded goal at the 17:33 mark before McCaig answered right back 1:26 later for his second goal of the season with an assist to Salberg. In the final minute St. Scholastica would tie the game back up at 2-2 to end a period that saw each team fire 10 shots.
The Sabres would outshoot the Saints 14-9 in the second period with junior Hunter Stewart lighting the lamp for the third time this season with an assist to senior Travis Meyer.
In the third period sophomore Jake Howie would find the back of the net off his own rebound to close out the scoring with his linemates sophomore Nick Monfils and senior Brodie Jamieson assisting the goal.
MU finished with a 33-30 shot advantage in the game. Senior Mike Baldwin (4-4-1) earned the win with a 28-save performance.
Marian opens the second half at UW-Eau Claire Saturday, December 31 with a 3:30 p.m. puck drop.
