JANESVILLE, Wis. – The Marian University men's tennis team opened its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference portion of its schedule with a pair of matches against Wisconsin Lutheran and MSOE. The Sabres suffered a 7-2 setback against WLC and were swept by MSOE 9-0.
The Sabres enjoyed early success against WLC. In No. 3 singles Danny Roe won a three-set thriller 7-5 (4-6) 14-12 and No. 5 singles saw Zac Brandrup win 6-4 (7-6) 7-4. Spencer Braswell dropped a close 6-1 6-3 decision in No. 4 singles.
MU had a tough go against MSOE. In. No. 3 singles Roe dropped a 6-4 6-1 decision and in No. 6 singles Zachary Stanczyk lost 6-2 6-2.
MU returns to action Wednesday for a home match against Ripon and returns to conference play this weekend against Dominican and Concordia Chicago.
