Box Score 2 FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Marian University baseball (8-26, 0-16 NACC) had their senior day spoiled falling to Concordia University Wisconsin by finals of 4-2 and 16-0.
The opener of the twin bill proved to be a pitcher's duel with early offense from the Falcons leading them to the win. CUW got to starter Ty Peccioli early tagging the freshman lefty for three runs in the first two innings, but Peccioli was able to settle down and find a rhythm. Pecioli would go 4.1 innings scattering six hits and only allowing two earned runs with three punch outs.
The Sabre bats were able to get on the board in the bottom of the third when Jake Falish drove a one out double down the left field line only to be brought in off a two-out double by Tony Grannis.
CUW managed to cushion their lead with a run in the top of the fifth to extend their lead out to 4-1. In the bottom of the ninth, Eddie Spies would start the inning with a single down the right field line in a pinch-hit appearance, and was later brought in by Jordan Walker. This would be all the Sabres could muster, however, dropping the pitcher's duel 4-2.
Falish finished with his third multi-hit game in the last five games going 2-4 with a run scored, while Mitchel Buss also had a multi-hit game at 2-4.
The Marian offense was silenced in the second half of the twin bill only managing three hits, while CUW had two big innings offensively to cruise to the sweep.
MU honored their senior members in between the doubleheader who played their final games at Herr-Baker Field in their respective careers; Earl Vorpagel, AJ Alessi, Grannis, Buss, Hunter Veness, Cody Schaefer, Jake Litkenhus, Spies, Marty Schechtel, Brett Kramer, Adam Ryan, Austin Hansen, Casey LaPointe, Matt Musuras, Brendan Seaver, Ryan Pfister, and Schuyler Rath.
