No. 6 Marian ACHA hockey offense powers past Marquette

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - No. 6 Marian University ACHA hockey (6-3-1, 6-2-0 NCHL) scored a total of 17 goals as the Sabres were able to sweep the Marquette Golden Eagles.

The Sabres opened the weekend flexing their muscles offensively as they were able to easily handle Marquette 10-4.  The second period saw a lot of offense on both sides of the ice as Marian tallied five scores with three of them coming in a span of 3:13, while the Golden Eagles also scored three of their four goals.  Marian was able to put away Marquette in the third period where they scored a pair of goals in the first 5:04 of the period and a Jake Weldon goal at the 10:29 mark of the period gave Marian double-digit goals.

Three different Sabres had multi-goal games in Dan Liberko, Daniel Roe and Brandon Mills.  Roe added an assist to be part of another trio of Sabres to record three points in the win along with Weldon, goal and two assists, and  Mike Sauer, three assists.  Colin Wilson, Paul Kinder and Bryton Tomko also scored goals in the win, while Austin Flores and Kirill Proskurin recorded two assists.  Wilson added an assist to give him a two-point game in the win.

Justin Davidson earned the win in goal for the Sabres making 27 saves.

Marian opened the finale of the series quickly scoring a pair of goals in the first 1:43 of the game.  Liberko opened the scoring just 47-seconds in, assists to Wilson and Proskurin, while Kinder added to the early lead, assists to Tomko and Roe, at the 1:43 mark.  Roe would tally a goal himself, assists to Mills and Wilson, near the end of the period to put the Sabres ahead 3-1 heading into the first intermission.

Marian would add to their lead in the second period with Devin Chmura, assists to Weldon and Sauer, and Kinder, assists to Tanner Duffney and Weldon, finding the back of the net.  The Golden Eagles would make things interesting in the third period as they managed to cut their deficit down to 5-3 with 5:55 remaining in regulation, but an empty net goal from Michael Bostwick would seal the win.  Weldon would add another tally with only 18-seconds remaining, assists to Bowtwick and Duffney, to close out the scoring.

Fredrik Radbjer earned the tough-win in net for the Sabres making 30 saves.

Marian travels to Grand Valley State for a non-conference series Nov. 17-18.
