OSHKOSH, Wis. - It came down to the last matches but Marian University men's tennis (2-1, 0-0 NACC) was able to pull it out late defeating Ripon 5-4.
The Sabres started things out strong taking the two top doubles matches. Patrick Schwoerer and Spencer Braswell were able to win the No. 1 doubles 8-2, while Danny Roe and Brandon Ruis took No. 2 doubles 8-4.
MU and the RedHawks then split singles action with Marian taking No. 1, 3 and 5. Schwoerer and Brasswell completed their 2-0 days taking No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, in sweeps with Schwoerer only dropping one game. Ryan Biffert then took No. 5 singles with scores of 6-3 and 6-0. Ruis would battle back at No. 4 singles to force a tiebreak but fell in the third set 10-4.
Marian next travels to Lawrence Tuesday, March 28 for an 8 p.m. road non-conference match.
