Sabres swept by Raiders on the road

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MILWAUKEE - Marian University baseball (9-18, 3-7 NACC) was swept on the road by MSOE with final scores of 12-2, seven innings, and 16-6, eight innings.

The Raiders took an early lead in the bottom of the first but the Sabres were able to respond in the top of the second to take their first lead of the game.  Sophomore Jake Falish would double in fellow sophomore Matt Nordlund before an RBI groundout from sophomore Travis Slywka scored Falish and put MU ahead 2-1.

MSOE quickly retook the lead with three runs in the bottom of the second and extended on their lead with four runs in the bottom of the fourth.  The Raiders would close out the game with another four-run inning in the bottom of the seventh.

Falish finished the game 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while senior Tyler Thompson went 2-3 in the loss.

The second game was a see-saw battle with each team scoring runs at will.  Senior Tommy Dugandzic would hit his third home run of the season to start the scoring in the second but MSOE answered with a run in the next half inning.

Senior Cole Miklavcic and Dugandzic then each drove in a run in the third to put Marian ahead 3-1 but the Raiders would take their first lead of the game with a three-run bottom half of the third.  Milavcicthen tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the fifth before MSOE quickly retook the lead with a run in the bottom of the sixth.

MSOE broke the game open with a five-run sixth inning but the Marian bats continued to battle.  Nordlund would hit a two-run homer in the top of the eighth, his first career big fly, but the Raiders would close out the game with a six-run bottom half of the inning.

Freshman Nick Bastien, Dugandzic and Falish each had multi-hit games in the loss.

Marian hits the road once again traveling to Aurora Saturday, April 22 for a noon doubleheader in NACC action.
