GEORGETOWN, Texas - Marian University men's lacrosse (0-3, 0-0 MLC) scored double-digit goals for the first time in program history but were defeated by Southwestern by a 20-10 final.

Nick Klotz opened the scoring for the game at the 12:18 mark with an assist to Garrett Houlihan before the Pirates scored four goals to close out the first quarter.  Klotz then netted the first goal of the second quarter but the Pirates were able to score six of the next seven goals to take a 10-3 advantage.  Landen Macco netted the goal that split up the spurt, with an assist to Klotz, before Connor Houlihan scored with just six seconds left to put the halftime tally at 10-4.

The Sabres had a better showing in the second half where they were able to score six goals with the Houlihan brothers accounting for five of the tallies.  G. Houlihan netted both Marian goals in the third quarter, his brother assisted the second, and then netted one goal in the fourth quarter.  C. Houlihan also tallied a goal in the fourth quarter along with Macco.

Macco completed his first multi-point game with a pair of goals, while G. Houlihan had a six-point game with three goals and three assists.  C. Houlihan, three goals and one assist, and Klotz, two goals and one assist, also had multi-point games in the defeat.

Tommy Gerlach had a team-high seven ground balls, while Klotz, Andrew Desilva and Rob Wilson each had two caused turnovers.

In goal, Gavin Taquino made 15 saves on 35 shots with a pair of the goals he gave up coming while the Pirates had a man-advantage.

Marian returns to the Midwest traveling to North Central (Minn.) for an 8 p.m. start Saturday, Feb. 24.
