RIPON, Wis. - Marian University baseball (4-9, 0-0 NACC) fell to Ripon in their final tune-up before NACC play by an 8-5 final.

The Red Hawks jumped out early on the Sabres scoring five runs in the first five innings as the Sabre offense struggled to find a rhythm.  Marian finally broke through in the sixth inning as they cut their deficit down to two.  The Sabres were able to load the bases before senior Jordan Walker brought in fellow senior Hunter Berry with a single to left field.  Freshman Logan Bosquez then came up with a clutch two-out single that plated sophomore Tim Dziergas and Walker to put the score at 5-3.  

Ripon managed to extend their lead on Marian out to 8-3 heading into the ninth inning where Marian put together another rally.  Junior Cole Clark brought in fellow junior Jake Falish before a sacrifice fly from Berry brought in freshman Ryan Ellingson to put Marian down 8-5 but it would be all the Sabres could manage.

The top four hitters in the lineup all recorded hits with Dziergas going 2-5 with a run scored.  Walker would reach base three times going 1-2 with an RBI and a run scored to go with two walks.

Marian hits the road again tomorrow, Thursday, March 29, traveling to Wisconsin Lutheran for a noon doubleheader to open NACC action.
