Box Score FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's soccer (7-8-1, 7-5-0 NACC) posted a shutout for the second straight match defeating Alverno 4-0.
Marian opened the scoring early when junior Ashley Welk found the back of the net at the 7:25 mark for her seventh goal of the season with an assist to senior Meghan Batzner. Not long after, sophomore Sophie Giron was able to score the first goal of her career at the 11:13 mark for her first score of the season. Another first-time scorer closed out the opening half when senior Charity Hertel scored at the 26:58 mark. The Sabres were only able to find the back of the net once in the second half when sophomore Taylor Perl scored the first goal of her career at the 73:02 mark.
The Sabres finished with a 47-1 advantage in shots with junior Brianna Levine making a save on the lone Alverno shot. Senior Kylie Lange earned the win in goal for Marian to improve to 4-3-0 on the season.
Marian will clinch a spot in the postseason with a win over Edgewood in their final NACC match or a Benedictine loss to either St. Norbert or Aurora.
The Sabres close out the weekend hosting Ripon tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m. in their final non-conference match of the season.
