Box Score DECATUR, Ill. - Marian University baseball (0-2, 0-0) had a tough time in the final innings falling to Millikin 9-3.
Marian was on the board first when senior Michael Snow was able to hit the first home run of his career, a solo shot in the top of the fifth. This Sabre lead didn't last long, however, as the Big Blue struck for a pair of runs in the next half inning. Millikin then added to their lead with four runs in the seventh inning to go ahead 6-1.
The Sabres were able to battle back in the top of the eighth with a pair of runs. Junior Josh Gates drove in the first run of the inning, which was followed by a double from freshman Robbie Knorr that also brought in a run. Millikin had an answer, though, scoring three more runs in the eighth to set the final at 9-3.
Snow and fellow senior Jake Arens each had multi-hit games with Snow soring a pair of runs. Freshman Logan Lange started the game tossing 4.0 innings allowing just three hits and a pair of punch outs.
Marian is next scheduled to travel to Rockford for a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday, March 20.
