Marian men's lacrosse easily handles Dubuque in 16-8 home win

FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's lacrosse (2-1, 0-0 NACC) defeated Dubuque to earn a second straight home win.

Marian took command of the game from the start scoring just 12 seconds in.  The Sabres were able to jump out to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter with five different Sabres scoring.  Dubuque was able to cut their deficit down to three in the second quarter, but Marian responded scoring the final three goals of the stanza to take a 10-5 advantage going into half. 

The third quarter was quiet from a scoring standpoint with only three goals between the two squads, but Marian was able to extend their lead out to 12-6.  The Spartans scored two of the first three goals in the final quarter, but three unanswered goals from the Sabres to close out the game put the final at 16-8.

Junior Finn Maloney led the way for the Sabres recording six points with five goals.  Senior Tommy Gerlach had another strong game with a game-high eight ground balls, while freshman Sean Gordon was able to force three turnovers.  In goal, sophomore Cameron Nevins made five saves to earn the victory.

Marian closes a three-game homestand Saturday, March 20 taking on Augustana at 1 p.m.
