Box Score FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's lacrosse (5-5, 2-3 NACC) was able to rally and tie the game in the fourth quarter but Aurora was able to score late and defeat the Sabres 12-9.
The Sabres were able to open the scoring with a goal from junior Colt Robertson but the Spartans were able to score five unanswered to take a 5-1 lead after one quarter. Robertson then scored three goals to open the second quarter and put Marian behind just 5-4, but Aurora had a response scoring the final two goals of the half to take a 7-4 lead into the break.
Marian dominated in the third quarter outscoring Aurora 4-1 to tie the game at 8-8. The Sabres then retook the lead for the first time since the first quarter when junior Erik Horman scored with a man-up at the 12:19 mark to go ahead 9-8. The Spartans then scored the final four goals of the game, however, with the last three being separated by 1:04.
Robertson paced the offense with his four first-half goals, while Horman added three tallies. Senior Tommy Gerlach then paced the offense recording a team-best six ground balls.
Sophomore Cameron Nevins (4-4) had a strong performance in goal for the Sabres stopping 15 of the 27 shots he faced.
Marian will next travel to Concordia Wisconsin Thursday, April 22 for a 10 a.m. start in NACC action.
