FOND DU LAC - Marian University baseball (9-15, 5-1 NACC) pushed their winning streak to four games with a 3-1 and 7-2 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran at home.

The opener of the doubleheader was a pitching duel where the Sabres had one big inning to take the win.  Sophomore Robbie Knorr opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the fourth before fellow sophomore Riley Palmquist hit a single that plated a pair of runs.  The Warriors would manage a run in the ninth but the Sabres were able to hold off the late comeback.

Sophomore Logan Lange (2-3) went the distance allowing just five hits with seven punch outs to earn the win on the bump.  Palmquist had a multi-hit game to go with his pair of runs batted in.

Using their momentum from game one, Palmquist opened the scoring for game two with a double to left that plated a pair of runs in the second.  WLC would push across a pair of runs in the fourth, however, to tie the game at 2-2. 

A sacrifice fly from senior Jake Arens in the bottom of the fifth would give Marian the lead for good.  The Sabres were able to put together a three-run inning in the sixth for insurance with Palmquist driving in another pair of runs with a double, which was followed by a double from senior Jonah Landowski to put the Sabres ahead 6-2.

A straight steal of home from senior Nick Bastien in the bottom of the eighth then closed out the scoring at 7-2.

Junior Taylor Middaugh (4-1) had another strong outing going 8.0 innings allowing just one earned run on eight hits.  Palmquist finished 2-for-4 with four runs driven in, while Bastien was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

The Sabres close their series at WLC tomorrow, Sunday, April 18, for a noon twin bill.
