Box Score 2 WAUWATOSA, Wis. - Marian University baseball (10-16, 6-2 NACC) fell to Wisconsin Lutheran 6-5 but bounced back for a 4-3 win to earn a series victory over the Warriors.
The Warriors opened the day with a quick start scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. A single from senior Mike Snow in the next half inning quickly tied the game at 2-2. The Warriors once again took the lead in the fourth, but Marian had an answer in the top of the sixth with senior Nick Bastien hitting a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 3-3.
Wisconsin Lutheran looked poised to steal the win in the eighth with a pair of runs, but the Sabres were able to keep the game alive in the top of the ninth. Senior Jonah Landowski was able to draw a bases-loaded walk before Snow hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 5-5. The Warriors were able to respond in the bottom of the ninth, however, to earn the walk-off win.
Snow and Bastien each had two hits with Snow driving in two and Bastien scoring twice. Junior Noah Imrie went 5.0 innings allowing just two earned runs in the start, while sophomore Bryce Lovisa went 2.0 innings allowing just two hits with three strikeouts.
Not much action name in the first four innings but Marian was able to strike first in game two with seniors Sean Meyer and Jake Arens each driving in runs. A home run from Meyer in the seventh extended the Marian lead to 3-0, his second long ball of the year. This lead was erased after the stretch, however, as WLC hit a three-run homer to tie the game.
The Sabres were able to once again produce a run in the ninth when Bastien was able to score following a walk from sophomore Robbie Knorr. This time the Sabres would off the Warriors in their half of the ninth to salvage the split.
Meyer finished with a four-hit game to lead the offense, while Bastien and Knorr each had a pair of hits. Landowski went 6.0 innings in the start allowing just four hits with seven strikeouts, but it was freshman Connor Medvecz (1-4) earning the first win of his career tossing the final 2.0 innings and allowing just one hit.
Marian opens a series with Edgewood on the road Saturday, April 24 for a noon first pitch.
