Box Score 2 GLENDALE, Wis. - Marian University baseball (15-21, 10-6 NACC) closed out their series against MSOE with a 3-0 victory before falling 10-9 on a walk-off.
A pitching duel opened the final doubleheader of the series between MSOE and Marian, but the Sabres were able to do just enough on offense to secure a win. Neither team was able to score through the first six innings until a two-out rally saw sophomore Riley Palmquist drive in senior Michael Snow with a single in the seventh. Junior Ricky Lee gave the Sabres some breathing room in the ninth with a two-run homer, his third of the season.
Senior Jonah Landowski (1-1) dominated on the bump only allowing three hits over 8.0 innings. Freshman Connor Medvecz earned his third save of the season tossing the final inning as Marian earned their first shutout of the season.
The Sabres looked poised to earn a sweep but the Raiders were able to rally late and salvage a split. Senior Jake Arens drove in a run in the first, fellow senior Sean Meyer drove in a pair in the third, and Landowski plated a run in the fourth as Marian trailed MSOE 5-4 after four innings of action.
Marian put up a crooked number in the sixth with five runs. Senior Nick Bastien started the scoring with a run-producing single before sophomore Robbie Knorr lifted a sacrifice fly. A double steal led to another Marian run before Arens drove in another pair of runs to put the Sabres ahead 9-5. MSOE would score two in the seventh, one in the eighth, and a two-run homer in the ninth gave the Raiders a comeback win.
Meyer and Arens each had three-hit games in the win with the duo driving in a combined five runs.
Marian opens the final NACC series of the season with a twin bill at Lakeland Friday, May 7 at noon.
