FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's soccer (5-6-3, 4-4-2 NACC) scored two goals in the second half to defeat Aurora 3-2.
The Sabres wer able to get out to fast start with senior
Meghan Batzner scoring 7:07 into the game with an assist from fellow senior
Ashley Welk. The Sabres held this lead for most of the half only to have Aurora score with 7:20 left to tie the game. Aurora then took the lead after scoring with just 1:02 left until halftime.
Marian dominated in the second half outshooting Aurora 13-1. The Spartans were able to hold on to their lead until the 73:54 mark. Welk would find the back of the net for the eighth time this season with an assist to sophomore
Abby Larson. The Sabres continued to push and retook the lead with just 1:41 left to play. Batzner would score her second of the game, sixth of the season, with an assist from Welk.
Marian finished with a 19-7 advantage in shots led by Welk who had seven shots. Senior
Amy Birner (3-5-3) stopped a pair of shots in goal to earn the victory.
Marian travels to Lakeland Wednesday, Oct. 19 for a 7 p.m. NACC match-up.
