FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's soccer (7-7-3, 5-4-2 NACC) closed out non-conference play falling to Grinnell 2-0.
It was a quiet opening 30 minutes with each team registering just one shot on goal. The Pioneers were then able to break the scoreless tie with a goal at the 31:36 mark. The Pioneers added to its lead with just 3:01 left to play until the break.
Marian dominated in the second half outshooting the Pioneers 11-2 in the second stanza. the Sabres nearly found the back of the net with just 1:23 to play but a shot from senior
Ashley Welk hit the post and a shot from sophomore
Abby Larson was saved.
Larson led the way for Marian with a game-high five shots as the Sabres finished with a 16-8 edge in shots. Senior
Kylie Lange (1-1-0) made a save in the first half and the Marian defense did not allow a shot on goal in the second stanza.
Marian closes out the season at Edgewood Wednesday, Sept. 26 for a 7 p.m. kick-off.
