ADRIAN, Mich. - Marian University women's hockey (0-3-1, 0-1-0-1 NCHA) earned a point against No. 7 Adrian falling to the Bulldogs 3-2 in overtime.
The opening period was mostly controlled by Adrian but the Sabres were able to keep the Bulldogs off the scoreboard for most of the period. Adrian would eventually light the lamp with just 1:03 left in the period to take a lead into the first intermission. After a scoreless second period, senior
Victoria Paton was able to even the game at teh 7:31 mark of the third period. The goal was her first as a Sabre and she was assisted by sophomores
Jadyn Gorski and
Dayna Jones.
The tie didn't last long as Adrian was able to score just 2:26 later to retake the lead. Marian once again had a response with senior
Alyssa Heim scoring her first goal at Marian on the power play at the 12:13 mark. This proved to be enough to force overtime where Adrian scored on the first goal of the extra period to take the extra point.
Sophomore
Abby Okon (0-2-0) stood on her head making a career-high 46 saves with 20 of her stops coming in the final period. Senior
Rheanne Peigan led the offense with three shots.
Marian travels to Concordia Wisconsin to open a home-and-home series Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.
