Box Score FOND DU LAC - Marian University baseball (14-19, 9-11 NACC) completed a victory over CUW that was originally suspended due to rain.
The game picked up in the bottom of the fifth where the Sabres ahead a 3-2 lead. This lead didn't last long as CUW immediately took a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth. Marian used some small ball to tie the game in the seventh. After a lead off hit by pitch from sophomore Tyler Blum, fellow sophomore Andrew Schroeder hit a sacrifice bunt. Blum then stole third before being driven in by another sophomore in Riley Palmquist.
The Sabres were able to work around a two-out double in the eighth before earning a walk-off victory. Schroeder would strike out with one out but the pitch squirted far enough away for him to reach. Senior Jonah Landowski moved him to third with a single. Palmquist then gave the Sabres the victory with a sacrifice fly to center field.
Graduate student Taylor Middaugh (6-3) tossed the final 4.0 innings allowing just three hits and no runs to earn the win. He also had three strikeouts looking on his line.
Marian travels to Concordia Chicago Thursday, May 5 for a 1 p.m. NACC twin bill.
