SHEBOYGAN, Wis. / FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's tennis (1-7, 1-5 NACC) dropped three matches over the weekend falling 5-4 to Lakeland and 9-0 to Northwestern (Minn.) at Lakeland, and then 8-1 to St. Norbert at home.
In a big match for the purposes of the NACC standings, the Sabres fell behind 2-1 after doubles action against Lakeland. Nathan Hunter and Daunte Fortner were able to earn the lone doubles victory at the second flight. Kyle Leisses sparked a rally earning a 6-3, 6-4 win at the top flight of singles with Derek Wills also earning a sweep at No. 3 with a final of 6-2, 7-5. Fortner completed a sweep in the match with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win at the No. 5 singles. Hunter nearly did the same after winning the first set of No. 4 singles 7-5, but he would fall 6-4 in the next two sets.
Leisses then highlighted the final two matches of the weekend winning six games at No. 1 singles against UNW. He would then earn the lone Marian victory over St. Norbert at the top singles flight with a final of 6-3, 6-0.
