BELOIT, Wis. - Marian University women's soccer (0-1-0, 0-0-0 NACC) was defeated 1-0 at Beloit to open the season.

The Sabres held a 12-8 advantage for shots in the game and outshot the Buccaneers in both halves.  Senior Amy Birner was able to turn away a penalty shot 12:54 into the match, but Beloit was able to find the back of the net just 2:16 later.  Marian sent three shots towards the goal in the final 7:01 of action but were unable to find an equalizer.

Sophomore Abby Larson had three of the 12 Marian shots with two of her attepts being on frame.  Birner (0-1-0) finished the game with stops on three of the four shots she faced.

Marian travels to Ripon Saturday, September 3 for a 3 p.m. non-conference game.
