FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's lacrosse (0-1, 0-0 NACC) fell to Carthage 25-11 in the first game of the season.

   

• The Firebirds were able to get out to a fast start outscoring Marian 9-2 with 12:12 left in the second quarter.
• Marian would score four of the next seven goals to trail by just 12-6.  Three of the Sabre goals were with a man-up.
• The Firebirds had the final goal of the half to go into the break ahead 13-6.
• The Sabres were able to trail 15-8 with 10:05 left in the third period before Carthage finished the game with a 10-3 run.

   

• Marian was outshot 66-32 for the game and the Firebirds had a 55-29 advantage in ground balls.
• The Sabre offense was 5-for-8 (.625) on man-up opportunities.
• The Firebirds won 27 faceoffs to just 13 for Marian.
• This was the first meeting between Marian and Carthage.

 

Senior Erik Horman had five goals with an assist and now has 98 points in his career.	Sophomore Ben Martin had six ground balls and caused a turnover.	Freshman Jackson Sweeney had 20 saves in his first game as a Sabre.
