Marian men's lacrosse earns fifth straight win defeating UNW

FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's lacrosse (5-1, 0-0 NACC) tied the longest winning streak in program history defeating Northwestern (Minn.) 11-6 for its fifth straight victory.

  • The two squads traded the first pair of goals and ended the first quarter knotted at 2-2.
  • UNW would score the opening goal of th second quarter before the Sabres scored four unanswered to go ahead 6-3.
  • A late goal from the Eagles cut their deficit down to 6-4 going into the half.
  • After trading goals to open the third quarter, Marian closed out the quarter with two unanswered to build a comfortable 9-5 lead.
  • Northwestern (Minn.) once again opened the quarter with a goal to only trail three goals, but Marian responded with two goals separated by 2:08 to put the final at 11-6.

  • Marian finished with a 55-27 edge in shots for the game and slim 34-33 advantage in ground balls.
  • The Sabre clear had a strong game going 23-for-26 (.885) while also holding UNW 20-of-33 (.606) on clears.

Freshman Jackson Sweeney made 11 saves with a .647 save percentage. Sophomore Serge Simard led the Marian offense scoring five goals with an assist. Senior Nate Htwe had a five-point game scoring a pair of goals with three assists.
