Win streak pushed to six as Marian men's lacrosse beats Cornell

FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's lacrosse (6-1, 0-0 NACC) used a quick start to defeat Cornell 10-6 at home.

  • Marian jumped all over the Rams scoring the first six goals of the game with five in the first and another to open the second.
  • The first four Marian goals came in the first 7:34 of the game.
  • The Rams ended the shutout with a goal in the second as the Sabres went into the half leading 6-1.
  • Marian opened the scoring for the third quarter before Cornell built momentum with two goals to end the third.
  • This put Marian ahead 7-3 heading into the final stanza.
  • The Rams were able to score the first two goals of the final period and trim its deficit to two.
  • Marian was able to respond with two quick goals separated by just 42 seconds to build some breathing room.
  • The two squads would trade goals at the end to put the final at 10-6.

Freshman Jackson Sweeney continued his strong play making 16 saves with a .727 save percentage. Senior Erik Horman continued to lead the Marian offense scoring three goals and two assists to go with six ground balls. Freshman Shay Nolen caused four turnovers and grabbed five ground balls.
