Sabre bats struggle at day two of THE Spring Games

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KISSIMEE, Fla. - Marian University softball (4-2, 0-0 NACC) was defeated 5-0 by York and 5-4 by the United States Coast Guard Academy.

GAME 1
  • The Marian offense could only muster one hit in the opening game of the day against York.
  • York would score a run in the second, two in the third, and two more in the fifth.
  • Three of the five York runs were unearned.
GAME 2
  • The Sabres were able to put together a strong start against USCGA but a late rally saw the Bears comeback.
  • Marian scored four runs in the first two innings with junior Katelyn Matenaer driving in three of the runs.
  • Neither team managed any runs until the Bears plated five runs in the bottom of the seventh to seal the win.

Senior Cailie Pliner went 5.0 innings against USCGA without allowing a run. Sophomore Sophia Albrecht tossed 2.0 innings of relief against York only allowing one hit. Junior Katelyn Matenaer went 2-for-4 with three driven in and a home run against USCGA.
