Sabre Baseball Suffers Tough Sweep Against Edgewood

FOND DU LAC - Marian University baseball (13-14, 6-8 NACC) was defeated by Edgewood 7-0 and 11-7 at Herr-Baker Field.

GAME 1
  • Edgewood scored two runs in the top of the first and it ended up being all Edgewood would need as the Sabre bats had a tough game.
  • Marian was limited to just five hits and were shutout for the first time this season.
GAME 2
  • Edgewood once again plated a run before Marian hda a chance to hit but the Sabre offense was finally able to show life in the bottom half of the frame.
  • The Sabres would take a 3-1 lead with junior Robbie Knorr and graduate student Jonah Landowski driving in a run.
  • The Eagles then scored six unanswered runs with a five-run fourth to go ahead 7-3.
  • Marian was able to respond in the next half inning with sophomore James Bornick driving in two runs and Knorr another to trail just 7-5.
  • Marian was able to cut its deficit down to one with a run-producing single from junior Albert Kiszka in the seventh to put the score at 8-7.
  • An inning ending double play halted a bases-loaded one-out situation for the Sabres.
  • Edgewood then scored three unanswered runs to pull away and complete the sweep.

Junior Robbie Knorr went 2-for-5 with two driven in and a run scored in game two.
Sophomore Gus Walker had a pair of multi-hit games finishing the day 4-for-9 with two runs scored.
