Sabre Baseball Drops Pair to Ripon

FOND DU LAC - Marian University baseball (14-17, 7-9 NACC) fell to Ripon 10-4 and 6-4 in non-conference action.

GAME 1
  • Ripon opened with five runs in the first inning and proved to be enough as the Sabres had a tough time slowing down the Red Hawk offense.
  • The Sabres were able to cut the lead down to 5-3 with a run in the first and two runs in the second. 
  • Freshman Kyler Fenske highlighted the three unanswered runs with a double for his first collegiate hit.
  • The Red Hawks tacked on three runs in the fourth and broke it open in the sixth with two runs.
  • Marian managed to score a run in the seventh to put the final at 10-4 and build momentum for game two.
GAME 2
  • Ripon was able to score first in game two as well with a run in the second before Marian took its first lead of the day.
  • A double from senior Joe Koscinski opened the scoring before a hit by pitch from junior Tyler Blum put Marian ahead 2-1.
  • The Red Hawks responded with two in the fifth but Marian once again had an answer.
  • A run-producing single from senior Brady Zackrison quickly tied the game at 3-3 after five innings of play.
  • A big inning from Ripon in the sixth saw the Red Hawks score three times to go ahead 6-3.
  • A sacrifice fly from freshman Nathan Espinosa scored a run for Marian in the next half inning but it was all the Sabres would manage.

GAME 1
Junior Robbie Knorr led Marian going 3-for-4 with a run scored.
Freshman Kyler Fenske went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a run driven in.
Sophomore Jacob Tyczkowski went 2.0 innings in relief striking out two hitters and not allowing a single hit.

GAME 2
Sophomore Brody Jordan went 5.0 innings in his first collegiate start allowing jsut two earned runs with three strikeouts.
Senior Brady Zackrison had the lone multi-hit game for Marian in game two going 2-for-5 with a run driven in.
Junior Andrew Schroeder provided 1.2 innings of relief allowing just one walk.
