Gus Walker of Marian University baseball have been named Academic All-District by the organization College Sports Communicators.
The Academic All-America program run by CSC is considered one of the most prestigious awards as it is one of the few awards that combines academics and athletics. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average at their current institution. The student-athlete must also be at least a sophomore and have been attending their current institution for a full calendar year.Â
Rademan (West Bend, Wis.) became a reliable weapon for Marian offensively and defensively hitting .293 on the season. He is a business administration major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.83. Rademan had eight multi-hit efforts and during one stretch of the season he went 20-for-46 (.435) with 13 runs scored and nine runs in over 11 games. Rademan led the team this season scoring 31 runs and his 44 hits and 13 doubles were both second on the squad. Defensively, he committed just six errors on 132 chances for a .955 fielding percentage.Â
Walker (Albuquerque, N.M.) was the top offensive weapon for Marian all season long. Walker is a communications major and has a 3.67 cumulative grade point average. He led the team with 50 hits and a .373 batting average with his .507 slugging percentage ranking second on the squad. Walker led the team with his 14 doubles and his 29 runs driven in was second the team. He had 15 games where he posted multiple hits and was held hitless in just eight of 39 games. On the base paths, Walker also led the team with his 12 stolen bases.
