Sabre women's hockey drops defensive opener to LFC

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's hockey (6-9-1, 3-5-1-0 NCHA) dropped its opener to Lake Forest by a 2-0 final.

Lake Forest was able to control the pace to open the game.
The Foresters needed just 11 seconds to score on the first power play opportunity for either squad to open the scoring at the 12:23 mark of the opening period.
This special-teams goal proved to be the lone score until LFC added an empty-net goal in the final minute to put the final at 2-0.

The Foresters held a 31-20 edge where Marian outshot LFC 9-7 in the second period.
Lake Forest went 1-for-5 (.200) on the power play with Marian going scoreless on three chances.
