Marian ACHA D2 rolls past MSOE in NCHL sweep

FOND DU LAC / MILWAUKEE - Marian University ACHA D2 (9-2-0, 6-0-0 NCHL) stayed perfect in NCHL action defeating MSOE 9-0 at home and 6-3 on the road.

GAME 1 (HOME, W, 9-0)
  • Marian completed dominated the opening game easily cruising past the Raiders.
  • Marian had four goals in the opening period starting and ending with scores from Simon Ellingson.
  • Easton Nick had the other two goals in the opening 20 minutes.
  • Three different Sabres were able to light the lamp in the second period building the lead to 7-0.
  • A third Ellingson goal and second goal from Cayden Frenette in the third set the final at 9-0.
GAME 2 (AWAY, W, 6-3)
  • The Sabres had another strong start to game two with Serge Simard and Nick putting Marian up 2-0 with 9:09 left in the period.
  • MSOE was able to net its first goal of the weekend to only trail 2-1 at the first break.
  • A Frenette goal was the lone score for either side in the second period as Marian headed into the third ahead 3-1.
  • The Raiders were able to make things interesting scoring 10 seconds into the final period and with just 5:42 to play to tie the score at 3-3.
  • Marian was able to rally scoring three goals in the final 3:32 to earn the sweep.

  • Marian had at least 17 shots in each period finishing with 67 for the gam to just 15 for the Raiders.
  • Neither team had a special teams' goal with Marian having just one power-play chance and two for MSOE.
  • Three Sabres had multiple goals in the victory.

  • Marian had at least 23 shots in all three periods finishing with an 83-26 advantage.
  • The Sabres limited MSOE to just one power-play goal on five chances.
  • The Marian power-play unit was scoreless on two opportunities.
