Marian women's lacrosse wins second straight defeating Spalding

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's lacrosse (2-5, 0-0 NACC) easily defeated Spalding at home by a 15-2 final.

  • The opening half was all Marian as the Sabres would score five goals in the first and two in the second to take a 7-0 lead into halftime.
  • Senior Nicole Stachon had three goals and an assist in the first 30 minutes with her second goal making her the first Sabre to reach 100 career points.
  • Stachon would score a pair of goals along with a goal from junior Izzy Newton opened the scoring and put Marian ahead 10-0.
  • Spalding managed to end the shutout with just 14 seconds remaining in the third period to trail 10-1 heading into the fourth quarter.
  • Marian showed no signs of slowing down as the Sabres scored the first five goals of the fourth quarter to lead 15-1.
  • Five different Sabres scored with one goal being woman-down and one being woman-up.
  • The Golden Eagles would net the final goal with 1:31 to play and settle the final at 15-2.

Senior Nicole Stachon scored six goals with two assists to become the first Sabre in program history to reach 100 career points.  She also had five draw controls and four ground balls.
Senior Marie Murphy anchored the defense with four caused turnovers and five ground balls.
Senior Gwen Kosirog had six saves and a .667 save percentage.
